Job Title: Mortuary Technician

Grade: Band 3

Ward/Dept: Mortuary

Trust: Croydon Health Services NHS Trust

Location: Croydon University Hospital, CR7 7YE

Hours: Full-Time - 08:00-16:00, Mon-Fri

Pay rate: Day £14.31

Are you a qualified and experienced Mortuary Technician who has worked within Hospital Settings? Do you have an all-round knowledge of hospital procedures?

NHS Professionals have exciting opportunities for a Mortuary Technician with experience to support our client trusts. You will maintain key relationships with co-workers and other health care professionals across the Trust to ensure an effective service.

The main campus, Croydon University Hospital, is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and often receives more ambulances than many major trauma centres. The hospital provides more than 100 specialist services, including 24/7 maternity care. An ongoing investment programme is also transforming the facilities available, with a dedicated new children’s unit and multi-million pound intensive care unit opening in 2023.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

To run a safe, secure, effective and comprehensive mortuary and post-mortem service.

Ensure all deceased are treated with respect and dignity at all times.

To engage in general mortuary cleaning, maintaining scrupulous cleanliness, and good hygiene in the mortuary and refrigeration areas.

To input data in to the Cerner computer system and mortuary database.

To prepare the deceased for formal identification and viewing by relatives.

To participate in regular manual handling procedures and the transfer of deceased across the hospital site.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

Post-Mortem/Hospital experience or equivalent is essential.

Knowledge of Cerner system would be desirable.

To be available on a Full-Time basis and be able to travel to the site.
