Grade:Band 6

Location Alder Hey Hospital

Hours: Full time / 37.5 hours

Pay rate: £19.20-£30.56 (uplifts for nights and weekends)

End Date: 3-4 months

Alder Hey Childrens NHS Foundation Trust are currently seeking organised and motivated candidates to fulfil Band 6 Specialist Dietitian opportunities within the team at Alder Hey Hospital under a long-term placement contract.Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills looking to embark on a new opportunity within the NHS? The post holder will ideally have experience working with children in a similar role and will be working within a hospital setting. They must be able to demonstrate initiative and prioritise a complex workload whilst working both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a team.

High levels of both written and oral communication are essential to this post with the ability to deliver or discuss difficult diagnosis and prognosis with tact, empathy, managing distressed or aggressive patients or carers/relatives. The post holder must be able to communicate accurate and sensitive information to patients, carers, and relatives as well as within their own team & colleagues.

Role Details:

  • To provide evidence-based specialist dietetic assessment, management, and treatment of patients within the framework of clinical governance
  • To act as a source of expertise to healthcare professionals, dietitians, and others in dietetic management within the above specialities
  • To plan and organise on-going dietetic services in the relevant specialities
  • To work flexibly and adapt to meet the changing needs of the service
  • To be responsible for maintaining own competency and self-development

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be HCPC registered
  • Hold a Degree in Dietetics or equivalent
  • Have previous NHS experience
  • Post registration experience in clinical paediatric dietetics (Band 5/6) is desirable
  • Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical, and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of:

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable
