Job description

A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Pathology laboratory is responsible for providing a significant medical diagnostic service to assist clinicians in the delivery of patient care. The Pathology IT LIMS Manager will be responsible for maintaining a fully functioning set of applications to include Winpath, ICE (GP order communications system), and Path Manager (the Trust’s reporting tool).
They will also be responsible for providing 1stand 2ndline support to users of the system(s) and those ICT systems connected to the LIMS.
The postholder must have specialist IT knowledge of operational diagnostic Technologies and of relevant Information Technology, underpinned by theory and extensive experience. This will require an in-depth specialist knowledge of IT laboratory applications and a strong working knowledge of IM&T procedures acquired through extensive professional training and/or experience
To be responsible for and provide 1stand 2ndline support to users in Pathology.
Ensure the ATOS Service Desk Incident and Request queues are monitored daily. and high priority incidents actioned as appropriate.
Undertake training of new users as appropriate. Create and maintain user guides, application support processes surrounding Winpath, PathManager and ICE Applications.
SME on IT related issues within Pathology Labs
Provide specialist advice as required, working with software supplier and Atos to assess software, network and hardware requirements
Formulating appropriate and robust project plans from inception to completion using PRINCE II methodology.
To write and review relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and monitor compliance.
Perform daily checks on servers and escalate as appropriate any concerns.
Issues relating to discipline specific software restoration.
General troubleshooting of Pathology related IT issues

Postholder will be required to formulate appropriate and robust project plans from inception to completion using PRINCE II methodology.
To document any system changes in line with Trust change control procedures to the CAB, ensuring all changes gain the necessary approvals before work completed.
Negotiate and plan go live projects and system downtimes during routine maintenance and upgrades.
To run complex analysis reports for internal and external meetings.
Be the first point of contact for Lab related IT issues within the Clinical Applications Team and provide specialist advice and guidance as required.
Be familiar with existing tools and be able to construct processes to monitor and assess computer performance and security.
To write and review relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and monitor compliance.
Ensure maintenance and monitoring of an acceptable patching and backup policy created by the Trust in agreement with Clinisys and Atos colleagues.
To document and assess any system or risk management issue and resolve or escalate as appropriate.
To create the appropriate reports within the PathManager Data Warehouse for clinical and statutory submissions to the DOH on a scheduled basis
