Job description

We are looking for an Acute Adult Specialist for our NHS client based in the vibrant city of London. The successful candidate would be coming into a full time locum role for an on going period of 3 months. This role entails protecting patients from neglect and abuse is a fundamental responsibility of the Trust. The named candidate will provide expert advice, safeguarding supervision, intervention and direction in regard to adult patients in line with the Trust safeguarding responsibilities under the Care Act (2014) and the Trust Safeguarding Adults Policy. They will liaise with internal and external agencies to ensure the client’s ethos are maintained.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.1       Support comprehensive assessments of patients’ safeguarding needs and create appropriate safeguarding plans where required.           

1.2        Support staff in assessing and making reasonable adjustment for patients with learning disabilities.         

1.3        Provide advice, support and guidance to colleagues regarding the management of patients with safeguarding needs including under 18s, children of adult patients and vulnerable adults.    

1.4        Provide advice, support and guidance to colleagues in relation to the MCA and DoLS

1.5        Contribute or lead to the investigation of complaints, accident reports, PSIRF and untoward incidents within the ward/department in line with Trust Policies and procedures and in conjunction with the Ward or Department and implement recommendations for action.

1.6        To influence strategic developments in pursuit of advancement of quality of patient care and the patient’s experience.

1.7        Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records in line with the client’s standards, clinical governance and risk-management.

1.8        Support patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care and development of services to enhance the patient/carer experience.

1.9        Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met.

1.10      Act always in accordance with the relevant  Code of Conduct and Guiding documents.

1.11      Participation in and attendance at back to the floor Thursdays in order to maintain and update own clinical expertise and to contribute as role model to ensure the deliver the highest possible level to meet patient care.

1.12      Work with other safeguarding teams to support and advise regarding Domestic Abuse and Modern Slavery cases and ensure referrals are actioned in regard to IDVAs, MARAC and MSE.

1.13      Participate in the 7 day safeguarding rota.

1.14   Oversee level 3 safeguarding adult training and compliancy.

1.15   Liaise on a regular basis with the divisional leads and safeguarding champions regarding updates and supports.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Minimum of first degree, and post registration courses (CPD) relevant to clinical speciality.
  • Has obtained Masters qualification or relevant masters level experience in relevant specialist area.
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Proven teaching and assessing skills
  • Advanced practice skills (safeguarding)
  • Evidence of applying current research/guidance to practice.
