Job overview
Are you looking to develop your skills working psychologically with psychosis? This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team on a bank work basis. We offer a range of support and interventions, working holistically with people and their families to promote an effective recovery. Hailsham EIP has been rated as 'top performing' in the most recent National Clinical Audit of Psychosis, and psychological interventions are a key part of the offer, with an emphasis on CBT and Family Work.
We are seeking a Practitioner Psychologist orCBT Therapist to work 2 days or more per week (up to full-time), who will be able to offer psychological assessments and NICE recommended psychological interventions to service users and their families.
Location: We aim to meet with service users in the setting where they are most comfortable and the postholder will be required tomeet with people at one of several team bases, in the community or in the person's home. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is necessary. The multi-disciplinary team base is Highmore in Hailsham. There is reception cover, office, meeting and clinical space, as well as a staff kitchen and free off-street parking.
Main duties of the job
Working in Early Intervention Services: The service offers support and treatment to people aged 14 - 65 who have experienced either a first episode of psychosis or present with an At-Risk Mental State.The Hailsham EIP team is one of 6 Early Intervention in Psychosis teams provided by the Trust. The teams have a single service-wide governance group which oversees and leads on the delivery of care. There are opportunities for genuine MDT working and collaboration with other staff groups in the team.
Career Progression: The post holder will be supported by the Principal Clinical Psychologist in the team, and will be joining a welcoming group of Practitioner Psychologists who work across different services in the local area. You will be provided with individual clinical supervision, group supervision for family interventions and opportunities to link with other Practitioner Psychologists both within EIP and other services for peer support and professional development. You will have opportunities to develop your special interests and expertise in line with service and team objectives, and will be supported in your continuing professional development and in building skills relevant to your career development.. There will also be an opportunity to access Systemic Family Interventions for Psychosis training and this intervention is a core part of our service delivery.

  • Recognised/accredited postgraduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in Appendix 1
  • Professionally registered as specified in the same Appendix

- Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
  • Substantial post-qualification/accreditation experience of specialist psychological therapy (assessment, formulation and treatment), as specified in the same Appendix, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • A high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to complex difficulties appropriate for this therapy with the client group, and a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes in this therapy
  • Experience of offering teaching, training and supervision within a demanding organisational context
  • A clear and theoretically informed approach to supervision
  • Experience of representing psychological therapy within the context of multi-disciplinary care within a complex organisational context
