At Turning Point we provide services across the whole country which delivers end to end drug and alcohol treatment and support, family services, housing advice and support for those in contact with the criminal justice system, needle exchange system, and custody outreach. We are a specialist in delivering whole treatment system approaches across cities and county areas, which has led to the reduction in people falling through gaps between services and delivers improved outcomes. We’re currently recruiting for a Recovery Worker to work in our substance misuses service in Workington.

Stanfield House is a 10 bed rehabilitation service based in Workington, Cumbria. The service reuses an intensive person centred programme, which is designed to explore the clients’ journey into substance misuse and development of skills to maintain recovery. Stanfield House is a short walk from Workington Town Centre with excellent facilities and transport links. Stanfield House enables service users to benefit from living within a safe, quiet community whilst having access to the support and opportunities within Cumbria.

Role Responsibility

As a Recovery Worker you will support the service manager to deliver high quality person centred services to those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. You will be responsible for your own caseload, undertaking risk assessments and putting effective care and support plans in place. In a role where no two days are the same, you will engage with our clients through group work and activities, providing individual support and enabling them to make informed choices about their future. You’ll be responsible for formulating risk assessments and risk management plans.

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have proven experience in handling significant caseloads in a busy environment as a Recovery Worker or similar, you'll have a deep understanding of substance misuse and the Recovery Agenda. It's an extremely varied role, so flexibility, a track record of The Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS), compliance and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital.  We are looking to recruit candidates with excellent communication skills and, ideally, a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.
