AddressSalary: £28,000 - £31,000 per annum depending on experience
Rich Mix is looking for a Bar Manager to lead the daily bar operation across the three bars in the building, with a mission to enhance the visitor experience and maximise income generation.
The bars at Rich Mix are staffed by our team of Visitor Services Assistants, who are line managed by the Visitor Services Manager. The Bar Manager will have day to day supervision of this team when they are working on the bars.
The Visitor Services Assistants also cover ushering duties for the Cinema, our busy Live Programme and Private Hires. Food service is provided by our Catering Partner, Oitij-Jo Kitchen.
Contract: Full time, permanent
Key responsibilities
- Work with the Head of Visitor Services to develop a strategic vision for all the bars at Rich Mix.
- Manage the bar budget, controlling costs and making efficiencies where possible.
- Provide strong leadership to motivate and inspire staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Deliver training to improve bar skills, sales performance and customer service.
- Work closely with the Visitor Services Manager to monitor performance of staff and provide regular feedback both to staff and to the Head of Visitor Services.
- Ensure a safe working environment on the bars and update risk assessments in line with regular reviews of procedure.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and licensing obligations
- Increase bar income across all bars and departments, including spend per head, against agreed targets.
- Integrate the third-party hot food service across all bars and set out a strategy in collaboration with the third-party to increase hot food sales.
Job requirements
- At least two years’ experience working in a similar role in a multi-bar venue.
- Proven track record in managing and motivating a diverse team of casual and part time staff.
- Strong technical bar skills and product knowledge.
- Experience of budget management, GP margins and sales reporting.
- Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities and perform well under pressure.
- A team player with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
- Ability to adapt and respond appropriately to a range of people and situations and deliver the highest possible customer service.
- Strong general IT skills and proven experience of operating and maintaining an EPOS in a retail or bar environment.
- A genuine passion for the arts and a keen interest in the work of Rich Mix.
