AddressWe are looking for a self-motivated, experienced Barista to be part of our exciting new coffee shop team, taking pride in presentation standards and creating a friendly and approachable customer service experience. As we are a seven day week operation this is a job share opportunity, working to a flexible rota.
The Barista role will requires you to:
- Demonstrate fantastic customer service and hospitality standards by greeting all customers in an efficient and friendly manner, personalising the experience by recognising repeat visitors.
- Proactively ensure you are aware of the wider Borde Hill visitor experience to include the event programme to enable conversation/upselling to customers.
- Be an ambassador for the food and beverage service we offer where quality is key and we only source from the best local suppliers.
- Safely handle all hot and cold drinks/food during preparation.
- Deliver great service and resolve any problems quickly and professionally.
- Manage stock control and orders and ensure the presentation of the coffee shop display – we want you to be proud of what you do.
- Clean the coffee shop in accordance with the daily, weekly and monthly plans, ensuring a clean, organised and stocked environment.
- Adhere to health and safety standards and company policy and procedures.
- This is a hospitality role and every customer needs to be met with a smile!
Knowledge, skills and experience needed:
- Barista experience including setting up a coffee machine and grinder
- Someone who has excellent customer service experience with a passion for food and beverage
- Highly organised and used to thinking of their feet
- Confident and able to work on their own or as part of a team
- Proactive, showing initiative and able to pick up new tasks and systems easily
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Good at building effective relationships with colleagues and customers
- A level of fitness and you will be on your feet all day and may be lifting/moving items
- Strong commercial awareness
About Borde Hill Garden Borde Hill (BH) is a registered charity and a Grade II* listed English Heritage Garden set within 380 acres of parkland and woodland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Created in the early 1900’s with plants gathered by the great plant hunters from their travels to the Himalayas, China, Burma, Tasmania and the Andes, it contains 78 champion trees and over 8,000 trees and shrubs listed by the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. The Garden today offers a high level of visitor interest and has become extremely popular, with 70,000 visitors each season, offering the wellbeing benefits of being in the open air, immersed in the beauty of nature.

Hours: Part time, 21-28 hours per week (3-4 days) to include weekends and bank holidays on a rota
Holiday entitlement: 28 days inclusive of Bank Holidays (pro-rata)
