Battery Energy Storage Systems Commissioning & Om Engineer

Currently we are looking for a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Commissioning & OM Engineer. In this role you will take part in different phases of the project commissioning, testing and validation. You will communicate with the Project Manager, filed Electrical and Mechanical Specialists and vendor representatives.

Main responsibilities:

• Commissioning Process Management: Lead the commissioning process for Battery Energy Storage Systems, from initial planning to final verification. Develop commissioning plans, protocols, and checklists to ensure all aspects of the system are thoroughly tested

• System Testing and Validation: Conduct comprehensive tests on Battery Energy Storage Systems to verify their functionality, performance, and safety. This includes assessing charging and discharging capabilities, response to grid signals, and overall system efficiency.

• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve technical issues during the commissioning process. Work closely with engineering teams and equipment suppliers to address any system deficiencies or malfunctions.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, test results, and any modifications made to the system. Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports for internal stakeholders and clients

• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, construction teams, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate a smooth commissioning process. Provide technical support and guidance as needed.

• Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training to operation and maintenance teams on the functioning and maintenance of the commissioned Energy Storage Systems. Supervises site turnover and O&M documentation.

• Supports Warranty requests for completed project sites

• Management and oversight of the site commissioning personnel, ensure construction testing and QA documentation is available and assembled into the turn-over document books for the client.

• Coordinates onsite plant commissioning and performance testing

• Directs the field Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument/Controls, SCADA Commissioning Specialists and Vendor representatives in the scheduling, supervision, and performance of all commissioning, testing activities and documentation.

Your profile:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an electrical engineering or related field

• 2+ years of experience in electrical utility scale commissioning or O&M activities

• Strong understanding of battery technologies, Energy Storage Systems, and power electronics would be threated as strong preference

• Must have field (construction / commissioning) experience (BESS preferred)

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

• Excellent communication skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information

• Knowledge of relevant software tools for data analysis and system monitoring is an advantage

• Strong command of English
