Job description

Hours of work: 30 per week
Working pattern: Part-time, Term-time only (working for 39 weeks per year plus 5.85 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years' continuous service)
(As the position is part-time/term-time only, the above salary will be pro rata)
Fixed term: Until Easter 2025

In this role, you'll work closely with individuals and groups of children, offering support in pastoral, emotional, and behavioural aspects. Your role includes supervising lunch and playtimes, implementing effective strategies, and collaborating with teachers to create tailored plans for children's development and education. You'll be the guiding force in resolving conflicts within the school, ensuring a positive and nurturing environment for everyone.

Your key tasks involve operating systems to identify and support children with behavioural needs, providing specific support based on individual requirements, and advising on intervention strategies. Monitoring and providing feedback on the effectiveness of behaviour strategies, creating innovative support strategies, and fostering positive relationships with pupils and parents are integral parts of your role.

As a Behaviour Mentor, your ability to communicate effectively, both with students and their families, is crucial. You'll be the bridge between home and school, offering constructive feedback and actively listening to the needs of both pupils and parents.

Your patience and calm demeanour, coupled with your positive role-modelling, will inspire and encourage children on their journey towards self-reliance and improved self-esteem.

To qualify, you'll need a GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths, coupled with knowledge of the National Curriculum and an understanding of the SEN Code of Practice. Your experience in establishing positive relationships with children and supporting those with learning, social, and emotional needs will set you apart.
