Behaviour Support Assistant

The Behaviour Support Assistant will support and develop behaviour for learning through effective supervision of the school’s Behaviour Support Room, instigate appropriate restorative conversations and maintain accurate records of behaviour events. They will work with a range of students with diverse needs, who may be serving a level of sanction, or who may need help in regulating after an incident.

This post would suit applicants who have a clear understanding of how to deal with learning or behavioural issues in young people and an ability to support and engage students appropriately. The candidate will be able to use emotional intelligence and communication skills to help students to reflect on, and learn from, challenging situations, whether this be reflective or part of a restorative process. A strong candidate will have the skills and experience to recognise underlying patterns of student behaviours and work collaboratively with the pastoral team to help scaffold a plan for improving student outcomes.

Working hours are 37 per week based on 8.00am - 4.10pm Monday-Thursday, 8.00am – 3.40pm Friday. Working weeks will be term time plus 5 staff learning days: 39 weeks per year in total.

Salary will be paid at Band G, £25,979 to £28,770 pa pro-rata: starting point depending on experience and qualifications. Salary for actual hours worked is calculated at £22,506 to £24,924 per annum subject to any continuous service.
