Job description

We are seeking to appoint an empathetic and motivated individual to join our highly effective and experienced team.

This role requires an enthusiastic, dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to support our young people to ensure that, whatever their starting point, they make good progress. You must be passionate about supporting and developing pupils with Special Educational Needs and demonstrate a natural ability to build positive relationships.

We are based in central Milton Keynes, an area that continues to grow and thrive at a rapid rate. The Milton Keynes Academy joined Creative Education Trust in September 2018. This has enabled the school to continue its rigorous pursuit of rapid improvement for the children it teaches.

Our staff are inspirational and caring. The pupils are at the heart of everything we do and if you share our vision of Opportunities for Everyone and are suitably qualified for the role, then we would love to hear from you!

We are an equal opportunities employer. MKA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, we expect all staff to share this commitment. References from previous employers will be requested for short-listed applicants prior to interview.

If you think that The Milton Keynes Academy would be the right place for you to inspire our pupils, please visit our website to download a recruitment pack and application form, or contact our HR Team on careers@miltonkeynesacademy.org.uk should you require any further information.

We will review applications on receipt. Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date, and we reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

The Milton Keynes Academy is a co-educational, non-selective secondary school for students aged 11-18. We are a member of the Creative Education Trust, a charity and multi-academy trust with a network of non-selective primary and secondary state schools. Together, we work to empower young people with the knowledge, skills and creativity they need to succeed in school and in life.

Our proactive approach to developing positive outcomes for our students has been recognised by Ofsted. In January 2023, Ofsted recognised our potential to continue our journey towards a ‘good’ school. We believe that our academy exists for its children and for our community. Our ethos of high expectations emphasises traditional core values of Respect,Responibily,Aspirations, Resilence,Equality.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced supporting students to achieve in both academic and vocational qualifications. Teachers are committed, talented and passionate about delivering an engaging education. The school day starts at 8:40am and formal lessons end at 3:25pm. Beyond the classroom, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

The Milton Keynes Academy is architecturally inspiring, boasting truly outstanding facilities and cutting edge resources. In 2018, a significant financial investment has provided a spacious restaurant, a further suite of science laboratories and a gym.

The Milton Keynes Academy is a nurturing school where students are happy to learn. We care for our students when they need support, and celebrate with them when they succeed.

We harness the expertise of employers and local higher and further educational institutions to ensure that our students are aware of the diverse career paths available and have the employability skills to be successful in their next steps.

By choosing to come to The Milton Keynes Academy, you will be joining a team of professionals that are highly valued. We will provide you with care, support and a comprehensive induction bespoke to your individual needs. We invest in our staff by providing professional development opportunities in order to nurture outstanding teachers and leaders of the future.
