Behaviour Support Mentor – Salford
Required full-time, Monday – Friday (Term time only)
Salary: earn up to £1400 - £1600 per month.
Start Date: ASAP
GSL Education are working with a Specialist SEN provision located in Salford whose mission is to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for children and young adults with diverse needs. We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Mentor to join our welcoming support team and contribute to the growth and development of our learners.
Role Overview:
As the successful Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our learners with challenging behaviour within a similar educational setting. You will work closely with our dedicated team to ensure the individualized needs of our students are met, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to learners with challenging behaviour.
  • Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) in collaboration with the Special Education team.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour interventions.
  • Participate in professional development and training to stay updated on best practices in Behaviour Support.
Essential requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with challenging behaviour in a similar educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to working with students.
  • The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in Special Education or a related field are desirable but not essential.
