We are currently seeking a Berthing & Landside Planner to join our team in the Hull Container Terminal to plan and coordinate the safe discharge and loading of vessels, plan yard operations and strategies within the terminal system and coordinate with AOM, gate staff and customers to maximise the terminals capabilities.


Accountabilities

  • Completion of operations reports
  • Cross reference discharge manifests from clients and Autostore
  • Check all Vehicle Goods Manifests (VGMs) and custom clearances are correct.
  • Create, amend, and update yard strategies.
  • Deal with client enquiries by phone and email.
  • Deal with queries from vessel and yard staff (internal radio & face to face)
  • Answer re-organisations, e.g. customs to/from shed, reefer points, scanner & apron.
  • Ensure discharge and load lists have full information, e.g. trans-shipments, plug-ins.
  • Use of Destin8 for various task, e.g. Checking VGMs/clearances. Out gating units for Terminal rent purposes
  • Allocating of empty units for shipment
  • Directing yard personnel on various tasks, e.g. locating units for shipment, housekeeping of the containers in specific areas of the Terminal
  • Liaising with ADMs over vessel sailing and arrival times
  • Liaising with Chiefs mate regarding vessel issues, e.g. non-arrivals, missing dangerous good notifications (DGNs)
  • Updating clients of vessel operations
  • Help Yard and vessel staff with IT issues where possible.
  • Liaise with ‘TBA’ to arrange Autostore upgrade and resolve any long-standing issues.
  • Tally Yard when containers on store incorrectly.

Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of computer systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills

Ideal

  • Previous container terminal experience
  • Destin8 experience
  • Previous planning experience
