Enterprise Technology is the Technology organisation responsible for the design, build and ongoing maintenance of the systems owned by the Group Functions (Risk, Compliance, Finance, Core Banking, Corporate Functions and Deputy COO). The organisation consists of over 8,000 people working in collaboration across 14 countries, to support over 3,000 applications
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Core Banking technology team within Enterprise Technology in the role of BIAN API Technical Product Owner.
The BIAN API Technical Product Owner will be part of a team working on a new initiative to modernise our Core Banking estate and deliver new foundational capabilities that introduce standardisation, interoperability and allow technology plug and play.
This role offers an exciting, challenging and visible opportunity work to create a bank of the future driving engineering and service excellence through all aspects of delivery. The product deployment will commence in 2024 with a pilot and subsequently need to scale both within a market and to selected other markets.
They will have excellent stakeholder and team management experience and significant technical planning and communication skills at senior levels within the organisation and across geographies. They will be able to work in a dynamic environment and understand the criticality of banking products and associated regulatory concerns.
Principal responsibilities:
The BIAN API Technical Product Owner will lead a new team which is responsible for building and operating a new Core Banking Platform solution aligned to industry standard BIAN Reference framework. They will be leading a new team of IT architects, analysts and engineers.
The ideal candidate will have prior platform and team management experience with excellent communication skills. They will be the working closely with the business to ensure the Platform meets the evolving business requirements whilst ensuring the new platform aligns with the long-term architectural vision.
- The role will be working with the Business Product Owner to ensure the Platform meets the business requirements.
- They will manage the long-term product roadmap and translate that into engineering activities using agile methodologies.
- This role will work alongside the Technical Lead to manage the engineering team who are tasked with building the platform.
- Ensure the Platform is tested to meet HSBC operational, data and security standards.
- Ensure the platform aligns with Enterprise Architecture Roadmap and Enterprise Technology Architecture Patterns.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner managing a large mission critical global platform.
- Prior experience in core banking transformations from mainframe to distributed compute solutions.
- Knowledge of Open API Specifications (OAS3) and Swagger.
- Previous experience using Java (preferred), Python (nice to have), Go (nice to have).
- Knowledge of core banking activities and awareness of BIAN.
- Team management experience across geographies.
- Budget management experience.
- Cloud platform experience (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Platform engineering experience.
- Proven ability to drive technology engineering and service management excellence.
