1 x 37 hours per week (Worked over a four-week period, Monday to Friday)
Based at Shipley Library, Wellcroft, Shipley, BD18 3QH.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in our team providing bibliographic and administrative support to libraries in the Bradford Metropolitan District. We are looking for someone with the appropriate professional skills and experience, a good grasp of technology relevant to libraries, and a good team player with the potential to progress and take on more responsibility over time.
The post involves a wide range of duties, including:
- Support the Bibliographic Services Manager in the procurement and monitoring of the supply of new books, audiovisual materials and electronic resources including monitoring the electronic ordering process (EDI).
- Support the Bibliographic Services Manager in the management of financial routines including (within post’s financial limits): preparing invoices for payment in the Library Management System (LMS),
- Play a key role in maintaining the quality and integrity of the Library Service catalogue, including cataloguing items and importing MARC records, ensuring relevant national / international professional cataloguing standards are met.
- Manage the effective delivery of the Inter Library Loans service.
- Line manages the Administrative Assistant and Van Delivery Drivers.
- Act as IT Co-ordinator for the Library Service, receiving and distributing info from the council’s IT Department re faults and issues.
- Oversee the effective delivery of the Library Service distributionservice, ensuring the maintenance and safety of Library Service vehicles.
- Act as the first point of contact for reading groups for ordering new titles and keeping records of the titles they have had.
- Oversee and undertake administrative routines as required including liaising with the Print Unit for re-stocking of specialist library stationery.
This post is eligible for the council’s Flexi-Time scheme, where start and finish times can vary between 7.30am and 6.00pm, subject to agreement with the line manager.
