This role will involve helping to facilitate one Bike maintenance/mechanics session a week at a hostel in Westminster for people experiencing homelessness.
The sessions will run on Thursdays 2:30-3:30pm.
The role will entail; Helping set up the room (i.e. with bike stand and tools), welcoming participants at the start and providing a generally welcoming atmosphere, helping participants fix or build their bikes, teaching them Bike maintenance techniques and helping pack down.
Participants will typically attend for a number of weeks until their bike is finished, at which point they can keep it. Some clients will continue to attend for the Bike maintenance techniques and to socialise.
The key purpose of this session is to provide a welcoming and accessible physical activity opportunity for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
