They curate a treasure trove of new and pre-loved books, host author talks and workshops, and buzz with the energy of passionate bookworms you will be part of that.
THE JOB
- You will become an important part of a community that enjoys books in all their variety, entertainment and stimulation.
- You will always be ready to discuss, give advice and promote reading of books new and old of multiple styles and genres.
- Help visitors make better book buying decisions.
- Keep book and shelf displays delightful, clean and inviting. This will involve some carrying!
- develop, plan and assist at events, sometimes during evenings.
- Working with antiquarian books, including on-line listing and posting
- Assisting with social media and website development and upkeep
THE CANDIDATE
Applicants should demonstrate a thorough, ongoing interest in current publishing trends, reviews, upcoming books across a range of subjects and be a willing participant in the bookstore s community in the shop and online.
The job demands strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and a cooperative spirit. Experience with - and enthusiasm for - crafts will be a strong plus. Punctuality and dependability are essential.
GEOGRAPHY: The bookshop is in the centre of a small village in East Sussex. People travel from far and wide to settle into its warm embrace.
SALARY: There s a discussion to be had here about working hours and salary. This is a Part Time role that would need to have some weekend working and they re very ready to have a conversation about how that might work to fit your own life, and salary agreed accordingly.
