Job description

Bullhouse Brew Co are one of the fastest growing breweries in the UK and the largest

independent brewery in Northern Ireland. We create world-class, award-winning beer that

at the SIBA Business Awards). This is an exciting time for the brewery as we begin planning

to move to a new, permanent home in 2025/2026.

The Brewery Manager is a key role for the business, having overall responsibility for day-to-

day operations at the brewery. You will be a people person, managing a small team and will

be highly organised. The main responsibilities include day to day management of the entire

brewery including people management, budget management, KPI implementation and

management, production planning and regulatory compliance. The Brewery Manager is a

key part of the senior leadership team with significant decision-making responsibilities. The

Brewery Manager is expected to represent the Bullhouse brand at events when necessary

so some local and international travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • People management including sales, marketing and production
  • Overall management of brewery budget
  • Implement, drive and develop department specific KPIs
  • Production planning and stock management
  • Regulatory compliance including HACCP, Risk Assessments, SOPs, Duty Returns, Export Paperwork and staff training
  • Managing production team including scheduling holidays and TOIL
  • Ensuring all employee records are up to date
  • Supporting communication between management, staff members and other departments including Bullhouse East
  • Organising regular staff socials/outings
  • Learning and development of team
  • Event and collaboration management
  • Supplier and customer negotiations and contract management
  • Managing, maintaining and being a point of contact for all site facilities to include: (Fire Alarms, Intruder Alarm, CCTV, Gates & Access etc), Plumbing: (Gas Supply, Gas Heating, Water etc), Pest Control, Waste Collections, Grounds, Windows, Electrical, Building works etc.
  • Managing service maintenance contracts and preventative maintenance planning
  • Creating business plans for CapEx spend
  • Monitoring usage of energy to drive a sustainability agenda
  • Monthly update reports for Senior Management

Essential criteria:

  • At least 3 years’ experience of managing a small team in a manufacturing setting
  • Passion for brewing and supporting independent business
  • Experience in using ERP software in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience managing Health and Safety policies in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to plan-ahead and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience of managing a budget of over £500k
  • Positive and committed attitude, with a flexible approach to work hours
  • Willingness to muck in with production, packaging and dispatch when necessary
  • Be physically fit and able to lift 25kg sacks
  • Right to live and work in the UK

Desirable criteria:

  • IBD Diploma in Brewing, Brewing MSc, Food Science / Chemical Engineering or Business Management degree or equivalent is desirable
  • A thorough understanding of the brewing process, equipment and techniques from raw ingredient to final packaged goods
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and Breww
