About the opportunity
We are currently looking for a Revit MEP Technician to join our Midlands Cities and Places Buildings Team in Birmingham. The Building Revit Technician (MEP) plays an important role in the design delivery and design integration of projects delivered by the Cities & Places business unit.
Using technical experience and excellent people skills, the Building MEP Revit Technician will be responsible for the digital delivery of the MEP design for projects. The collective team will produce multi-disciplinary designs and associated deliverables in an integrated and holistic manner using appropriate modelling and associated analytical software; MEP Revit Technicians play a key role in leading and implementing the design, coordinating information transfer to our clients, and standardising the Revit templates to make most efficient use of the software.
Key Responsibilities
  • The digital delivery of the MEP models and information management of the MEP design from bid stage to project close out
  • Managing Revit MEP functionality including modelling systems, creating and working with schedules, creating Sheets, managing libraries and asset tagging, ensuring templates are up to date.
  • Supporting the BIM manager in the delivery of digital outputs within project teams and the seamless sharing of information with other discipline teams
  • Task level management and of the BIM model
  • Representing Jacobs in liaising with clients, engineers, and other design team members
  • Develop and maintain excellent team relationships through successful project execution
  • Support with development of a content library suitable for the MEP team and integration with the Jacobs standard library
  • Have an appreciation for BS 1553, BS 8888, BS 8560 and work to guide the team so that the Jacobs CAD standards are followed
  • Develop project templates that can be rolled out on all new projects that creates an efficient environment for the engineers to work in.
  • Creation of views and drawings to improve productivity of drawing creation. Implementation of dynamo scripts where necessary although Di roots plug in can be used
  • Coordinating the activities, output and standardisation of MEP Revit.
  • Supporting development of Revit skills for the MEP team. Supporting and assisting early careers staff and others with limited Revit exposure in the best practices for using Revit

Here's What You'll Need:
  • Relevant experience in the modelling of buildings MEP systems up to BIM Level 2 status.
  • Sound understanding of Revit MEP functionality including modelling systems, creating and working with schedules, creating Sheets, asset tagging etc
  • Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, from inception to operation
  • Proficient in Navisworks and experience in clash detection.
  • Strong 3D coordination of all MEP services - taking into consideration unique features associated with each service, allowing for access and maintenance, buildability, etc.
  • An excellent knowledge of Revit, Autocad and exposure to BIM360, Navisworks and CDE's.
  • Ability to follow and implement the requirements of a project BEP
  • Creation of parametric Revit families
