The Role
Are you qualified in mechanical engineering with NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent? Do you have a passion for maintaining critical infrastructure? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.
We are one of the UK's leading Research Institutes delivering world class agricultural science, looking to appoint an experienced and pro-active Building Services Engineer to our growing team.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the functionality of our scientific facilities. You will be responsible for planned preventive maintenance, repairs, and multi-skilled Building Services tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of critical mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting planned preventive maintenance and repairs on various mechanical equipment, including heating systems, chilled water systems, DHW (Domestic Hot Water), drainage, general HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and water testing.
Completing a diverse range of multi-skilled Building Services tasks as required to support the facility's operation.
Carrying out basic electrical fault-finding and possessing a willingness to develop proficiency in BMS (Building Management Systems) with training provided.

The Person
Qualified in mechanical engineering with NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent.
Be GAS safe registered (or an interest to progress this).
Have good relevant experience, in a post apprenticeship role.
Basic electrical fault-finding experience and basic BMS experience is also preferable, however, training can be provided to support developing of knowledge in these areas.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimum supervision.
Possess a broad range of mechanical knowledge and experience.
Good communication skills.
The ability to make sound judgement and approach tasks logically are essential.
