About the Role:
A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Building Repairs Surveyor to join their team. This role involves working with the Area Repairs Manager to develop and implement effective systems for inspecting external and communal parts of properties, identifying needs for reactive repairs and cyclical maintenance, and ensuring timely and high-quality completion of required works.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Housing services colleagues to improve quality and customer satisfaction for residents.
- Support and manage resource deployment within the Property Services Division to respond to workload fluctuations effectively.
- Highlight key investment needs to the Property Planning and Assets Team for major works programmes.
- Provide technical support and manage the local delivery of the repairs term partnering contract.
- Ensure the Council's Health and Safety policy is fully implemented and documented, providing expert knowledge on relevant laws.
- Provide strategic leadership within the Housing portfolio, working with various stakeholders to achieve council objectives.
- Ensure high-standard repairs in residents’ homes and manage complaints and disrepair claims effectively.
- Manage claims under the Council’s insurance policy and ensure team awareness of policy terms.
- Conduct post inspections of buildings, resident repairs, communal areas, and estate grounds.
- Use Site Audit Pro or equivalent for inspections, raising orders, managing, and booking with residents, and providing detailed site reports within 3 working days.
- Manage contract/cost variations, payment approvals for contractors, and pre-inspections, ensuring all records are updated in Orchard.
- Proactively check and manage insured peril orders, maintain Section 20 paperwork, and respond to insurance claims within SLA timeframes.

Essential Requirements:
- Excellent building pathology knowledge.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in responsive repairs, preferably in Housing.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- High reliability and methodical approach with attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work to high-quality standards.
- Understanding of customer needs and clear communication abilities.
