Bulking Waste Operative

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time Bulking Waste Operative to work from our Hornsey Street Waste Transfer Station.

LondonEnergy Ltd operates the second largest waste management company in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year. By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough energy from waste to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centre's.

Duties and responsibilities:

• To receive recyclables from curbside collection vehicles and other vehicles as required, using mobile plant to move into storage bays as required. To assist in reloading onto vehicles for the onward journey to the re-processors.
• To carry out waste inspections as required especially for level of contaminates found, complete reports as appropriate.
• To identify potential hazards relating to all aspects of the operation, including customers, reporting any discrepancies to the Line Manager.
• To carry out waste inspection checks as per company policy or as directed, recording and reporting any non-conforming wastes or dealing with same as required.
• To assist the Operations Controller in the control of traffic and cleaning within the bulking area, and such other areas as may be directed.
• To carry out daily routine maintenance checks to all plant utilised in carrying out duties as per manufacturers' and company guidelines, reporting any defects immediately.
• To contain and dispose of any spillages as appropriate, ensuring the tipping area is kept free of litter at all times.
• To ensure the working area is cleaned on a regular basis or as required, using hand tools as necessary. This may include other areas as directed by the line manager.
• To carry out other duties at a similar level as may be required at the same or other company sites.

Requirements

• You will be expected to work Monday to Friday and 39 hours per week (8 hours per day).
• Have a flexible approach as may be required to learn other roles within the site to ensure effective operating procedures.
• Willing and able to work outdoors and in all weather conditions.
• Previous customer service experience.
• Experience of working in a waste operations environment is desirable.
