Background: The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of internationally renowned research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing. The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership. Based on the Norwich Research Park amongst 230 hectares of parkland, you will be joining a committed, professional and welcoming team. The Core Computing Department has 18 staff meeting the IT needs of 4 scientific institutes, and also provides system administration support to the HR, Finance and Facilities teams. The Department has 3 teams covering IT Infrastructure, Desktop Support, and Information Systems & Application Development. The role: The Business Analyst will play a key role in the Business Systems Transformation programme. You will work alongside other team members and report directly to the Business Systems Transformation Manager. Your main tasks will include performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, working closely with stakeholders and users, and third party suppliers, and performing some user acceptance testing. To succeed in this role, you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users. The post will work collaboratively with the NBI Partnership, HR, and Finance team members, as well as Institute Management teams and end users to provide an excellent business systems environment meeting current and future needs of NBI’s world leading bioscience research community. The ideal candidate: You will have a degree in a relevant subject or certification in Business Analyst work. The post holder will have an understanding of HR, Finance and other business systems and processes, having experience in dealing with third party supplies is essential for this role as you will be liaising with them closely in determining acceptable solutions. It is advantageous if the successful candidate has experience in evaluating current processes and procedures and suggesting improvements. To succeed in this role, you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users. Additional information: Salary on appointment will be within the range £34,950 to £43,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time post for a contract of 12 months.
