Business Development Coordinator, London

Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, an international law firm with a market leading international disputes practice, is seeking a Business Development (BD) Coordinator to join its busy Marketing and Business Development team in London.

Founded in New York in 1830, the firm has never merged, but has grown organically and through strategic hires. Unlike almost all international law firm competitors, Curtis focuses largely on sovereign clients. We represent over 50 sovereign states or state owned entities globally on their high states disputes. With such an international client base, Curtis attorneys are culturally diverse and a high proportion of our partners speak several languages. Curtis has a historical strength in the energy sector, notably oil and gas, an industry that is transitioning along with the energy sector into alternative and renewable energy.

This London-based role will be a key member of a small marketing and BD team, which operates out of the firm’s New York and London offices and serves 19 offices worldwide. The position will be  hybrid – we are open to flexible working but some in-office presence will be required.

The successful candidate will be technologically savvy and have excellent academics. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills and a liking for working with diverse and internationally oriented colleagues.

In addition to being a strong communicator the candidate must be able to take responsibility for projects and manage relationships internally and externally. You will be a high-energy, collaborative, constructive team player.  Law firm or other professional services marketing experience would be a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Putting together pitch documents and coordinating responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Researching, writing, editing and laying out a variety of other marketing materials, including:
  • Directory submissions, on occasion Managing website content such as bios, practice descriptions, and news items Internal and external HTML communications, including bulletins, newsletters, announcements, and invitations Managing the social media platforms, on occasion
  • Advising partners on strategic decisions around Business Development initiatives work with the marketing team and partners to develop effective communications practices and introduce best practices

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required with previous experience in a Business Development or marketing team

Qualities and skills required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills a prerequisite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Level of proficiency with Canva desirable but not essential
  • Excellent editorial and proofreading skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous law firm or other professional services firm experience preferred
  • Confident, energetic and self-motivating
  • Collaborative team player
  • Ability to work under time pressure and juggle multiple tasks without dropping standards
