Job Title: Business Development Director, Healthcare and Education

Location: Itinerant

Salary: Competitive

Hours per week: Monday to Friday - 09:00 - 17:30 - 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead all Business Development initiatives for the Healthcare and Education sectors.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the revenue line for the division, ensuring that margins are maintained.
  • A key member of the senior leadership team involved in the overall management of the division and its commercial success.
  • To ensure that the division is constantly assessing the marketplace in relation to market trends, new business opportunities, M&A, competitor analysis etc.
  • To develop the strategic plan for the Sectors in conjunction with the Managing Director.
  • To be proactive in networking in relevant segments of the market to ensure OCS is on bid lists for all target contracts.
  • To identify growth opportunities in adjacent sectors including pharmaceutical, forensic, laboratories etc.
  • To lead innovation and specification of IT capabilities to give OCS a market leading position in its service proposition and digital platform.
  • Build a high performing BD team.

Critical Performance Measures/Objectives

  • Develop the division’s strategy, in conjunction with the Sales director.
  • Achieve, if not exceed, the agreed annual budgeted growth, retention and turnover.
  • Develop a compelling proposition for the division and its new and existing customers.
  • Achieve a better and more balanced capability in the BD team.

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK
  • A graduate, ideally with a professional qualification.
  • Extensive experience in commercial/ Business Development leadership positions, delivering services and profitability.
  • Extensive experience in bidding to the public sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FM related services, particularly in the Healthcare and Education sectors.
  • PFI experience.
  • Ability to interface with customers at executive levels.
  • A comprehensive understanding of trends and developments in relevant sectors.
  • Experience of successfully managing and developing teams.
  • Strong leadership and commercial skills.
  • Highly literate, numerate and data oriented.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence business users at all levels to obtain project objectives.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Able to influence at all levels from board room to shop floor.
  • Strong motivational and team building skills.
  • A resilient and robust nature.
  • Communication skills – good listener; confident presenter.
