Thorn baker are excited to be recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager to join a major UK manufacturing business to grow sales and margin value by identifying, qualifying, and converting new target customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Development Manager to develop and manage their own business pipeline with major opportunities for growth and progression depending upon performance.
Some keys areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):
Overall new business planning and team working.
- To work closely with Marketing BDRM to identify and qualify prospect customers.
- To work closely with the Commercial Manager to agree target customers to approach, products to offer and all terms and conditions to offer.
- To ensure company-wide awareness of the new Business Development plans, target accounts and when first orders will be arriving.
New Customers
- To identify new target customers
- Using this prospect list along with those identified by marketing activity, to create an effective plan on who, when and how to target them.
- To carry out initial desk-based research in order to determine attractiveness of target customers.
- To seek face to face appointments with target customers in order to complete full qualification and decide whether to win it or bin it.
Product
- To grow sales of the target products as defined by the Business Strategy
- To report feedback on the performance of all products with any recommendations for improvements
- To identify the applications of all products
The successful candidate will have:

Experience:
- Experience in selling industrial consumables through distribution channels.
- Up to date knowledge of the pressure sensitive adhesive tape market
- Proven track record with demonstrable new business wins
