Job description

We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success. The RoleWe've got an exciting new role in our team, and we are looking for outgoing and adaptable candidates who can both engage with our external partners and collaborate effectively with colleagues. At Newcastle University, we aim to work with our many partners to shape brighter futures, grow the economy and champion social justice. Part of the University's Business Development & Enterprise Directorate, the Partnerships team works with Newcastle University's leaders for Research, Lifelong Learning, Business & Innovation, Culture & Creative Arts and Engagement & Place, to maximise opportunities for engagement and funding to enable us to do more of what we do best - creating impact from our research and teaching that benefits wider society. You will join a talented and supportive team that works with academics and professional services colleagues to deliver societal impact through the University's diverse world-leading research, innovation and educational offer. Working under the guidance of the Head of Partnerships and our team of Business Development and Partnership Managers, you will play a crucial role in building strong and lasting relationships with clients, to generate a stream of interest in our offer to business. You will be responsible for managing engagement strategies, generating, and nurturing enquiries across a very broad spectrum of technology and expertise. Continuous development is important to the role with guidance and mentoring by experienced colleagues, as well as access to internal and external training courses. For insights about who we are working with, look at some of our collaborations and case studies. We'd really like to hear from candidates who have knowledge of Business Engagement or development concepts and practices with experience in creating strategies to generate interest and identify opportunities. To be highly successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills, stakeholder management skills and the capacity to learn. If this sounds like you, reach out to Karen Allenby, Head of Partnerships (karen.allenby@newcastle.ac.uk) for an informal discussion. To apply, please provide evidence of how you meet the essential criteria required for the role outlined in ‘The Person' (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) by uploading a letter of application along with your application. We are working with a hybrid approach of campus based and some home working and we would be happy to have discussions around flexible working. Interviews will be held on 12 February 2024.
