Job description

Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2025.

Location: Home based role with travel in and around the Walsall area as required.

We are recruiting 2 Business Advisors for our Walsall Business Growth Programme.

Primary Job Purpose

Through analysis of participants’ current challenges and opportunities, the Growth Manager (BA) will play an integral role in sourcing the right volume, mix, size and quality of clients on to the Walsall Business Growth Programme (WBGP). Facilitating the achievement of individual and overall contract targets. The role is also responsible for ensuring all clients gain the correct help and support at the right time and that they complete their journey on the Programme, delivering business improvement, measurable growth, and additional jobs.

The role will require growth clients to complete a strategic Business review using Oxford Innovation Advice GROWTHmapper, having the ability to translate report outcomes and agree project priorities in support of Business Growth to a senior management team, leading to 1:1 client coaching support providing advice, related to (although not exhaustive to) business development, strategic planning, and Business Growth.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Business Planning & Results - includes; delivering the overal WBGP client acquisition target as direct by the Programme Manager, being responsible for a portfolio of clients managing interventions from diagnostic to the completion of the improvement Programme. You will ensure all participant activity is fully tracked on the relevant system(s) and monitor impact and collect outputs after the improvment project.

Collaboration - you will build effective relationships and establish professional credibility with the participant's leadership team, maintaining regular contact and collaborating with other business support partners to bring in additional support where necessary.

Markets - you will identify and engage with eligible and suitable quality businesses, supporting the sign-up process and signposting to appropriate support to achieve the service aims and measurable economic growth

Client Engagement - you will build and manage lasting relationships with clients, drawing upon relevant business experience that will truly aid client growth. You will ensure that your individual and WBGP reputation is constantly upheld and is always at the forefront of your mind for any engagement.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of complex programme and budget management essential
  • Evidence of building innovation and continuous improvement into programme delivery
  • Evidence of successfully managing operational delivery associated with both commercial and grant funded contracts.
  • Ability to work independently with evidence of sound judgement.
  • Previous experience of building relationships essential.
  • Experience of leading, managing and retaining a high-performance team
  • Experience of leading and developing a culture of continuous improvement desirable
  • Persuasive communication skills at all levels essential.
  • Experience of working in a demanding environment, where the willingness to adapt to meet the needs of the business, is crucial.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle (Essential).
