An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-starting and enthusiastic analyst to join our innovative and fast paced Business intelligence team.
We are looking to appoint a pro-active and dynamic individual with the confidence to engage with others across all levels of the organisation and wider health economy.
Working as part of the team, you will be required to collate, validate, analyse and present patient information to support all business areas of organisation.
To support the organisation with analysis and reporting on a wide range of topics and service areas, and to contribute to improving quality in respect of patient activity data that is captured by community services.
To use SQL and other Microsoft tools, to extract data from source systems and the MCH Data Warehouse and to produce analytic reports, visualisations and outline findings on a range of topics.
The post-holder will provide high quality, timely and accurate information to enable Medway Community Healthcare to provide effective patient services.

1. Communication and relationship skills
• Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written, such as the provision of guidance documentation) with a range of people with a range of IT knowledge and skill.
• Communication and working relationships will include community staff and senior management within Medway Community Healthcare and commissioners
• Ability to communicate highly complex data/statistical information to a range of healthcare professionals with varying levels analytical expertise and sometimes in environments where there are potential (hostile) barriers to acceptance.
• Ability to deliver training to staff with a range of IT knowledge as required.
• Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and communicate to relevant parties
1. Knowledge, training and experience
• Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience in an analyst role
• Previous experience of working in business environment where activity data formed integral part of the role.
• Proven experience of improving processes and technical/analytical responsibilities.
• Excellent IT skills on Word, Access and Power BI, and advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Knowledge of information manipulation and management.
• Knowledge of technical data analysis and reporting using a variety of systems.
• Collate patient activity data from a variety of systems for internal management and for performance meetings.
• Monitor the processing of data and information.
• Provide technical support for Excel and Power BI reporting solutions, including both creation of new solutions and maintenance and training for existing solutions.
• Advise and support service leads to help improve the accuracy and consistency of their activity recording and reporting, and minimise data and information gaps.
• Take appropriate action or escalation when there are persistent data quality problems.
• Develop and implement effective models of interrogating and presenting monthly and quarterly performance data across multiple services, highlighting areas for change /investigation.
• Develop and produce accurate and effective monthly service reports that demonstrate performance trends and areas of improvement or decline.
• Provide training and ongoing support to service managers and clinicians in the use of activity data collection systems.
• Knowledge of SQL coding, developing SQL Queries to an intermediate level, TSQL, functions and stored procedures.
• Knowledge of SQL Server and reporting Services (SSRS/SSMS).
1. Analytical and judgement skills
• Help develop analytical capability across Medway Community Healthcare in respect of performance management of its community services.
• Post holder will help develop analytical capability in respect of performance management for those community services that don’t use the electronic patient activity and information system (Rio).
• Collate, analyse, interpret and present complex activity and performance data for a range of community services.
• Respond to requests for information, provide analysis, identify any issues and give recommendations where appropriate.
1. Planning and organisational skills
• Develop and produce accurate and effectively monthly service reports that demonstrate performance trends and areas of improvement or decline.
• Develop and implement effective solutions for capturing and reporting monthly and quarterly performance data for multiple services.
• Effective diary management, to ensure delivery of both ad hoc and routine requests for information, and ability to organise priorities as part of busy schedule.
• Co-ordination of accurate and timely collection/collation of agreed performance data from MCH community services.
1. Physical skills
• Advanced keyboard use, inputting and manipulating data, ensuring quality and accuracy of input and producing reports.
1. Responsibility for patient / client care
• Contact with patients is incidental.
1. Responsibility for policy and service development implementation
• Collate patient activity data from a variety of systems for internal management and performance meetings with commissioners.
• Produce guidance documentation to support the explanation of complex data inputs and outputs for managers.
• Contribute to policies relating to standardisation of data entry, storage and reporting, implement such policies across community services and ensure protocols are adhered to.
• Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and communicate to relevant parties.
• Co-ordinate and respond, where appropriate, to any Freedom of Information requests relating to community service activity.
1. Responsibilities for financial and physical resources
• Responsible for use of IT equipment in the course of the job.
• Also responsible for use of other IT training equipment in course of duties as trainer of specific systems.
1. Responsibilities for human resources (HR)
• Provide training and ongoing support to service managers and clinicians.
• Assess training requirements and provide training where appropriate in relation to data capture and reporting solutions.
1. Responsibilities for information resources
• Post holder will be expected to analyse, interpret and present complex activity and performance data for a range of provider services.
• Monitor the processing of data and information and implement improvements where necessary.
• Responsible for co-ordination of accurate and timely collection and collation of agreed performance data from community services.
• Extracting patient activity data for use by internal management and for performance meetings with commissioners.
• Responsible for highlighting and acting on data quality issues.
• Responsible for identifying improvements to data recorded on central system(s).
1. Responsibilities for research and development (R&D)
• Undertakes surveys or audits to support service development, particularly audits in respect of data quality.
1. Freedom to act
• Responsible for the timely provision of monthly activity data and summary reports from Excel and other tailored information solutions and expected to co-ordinate multiple services to ensure deadlines are met and that data is robust.
• Liaise with service managers and take appropriate action when there are persistent data quality problems.
• Responsible for the co-ordination of Freedom of Information requests relating to community service activity, ensuring full or initial responses are all made within the deadlines.

• Desk based and therefore frequent VDU use and inputting at a keyboard.
• Requirement to attend meetings throughout the working week.

• Post holder will be required to work independently and as part of a team.
• Required to work flexibly responding as appropriate to unpredicted issues often within tight deadlines.
• Post requires frequent bouts of intense concentration on complex data over long periods of time often with unplanned interruptions.
• Examples include report writing (both verbal and numerical reports), analysis of clinical data systems, and identifying risks and creating action plans to reduce the risks.
