About the role

This is a busy and varied role. Reporting to the Business Planning and Analysis Manager you will support with the financial planning of the business. You will be using historical internal data and use external influences to help forecast future revenue and net profit. Bi-annually a 3 year business plan is produced for all BAH operating companies, this includes producing a profit and Loss breakdown of the business.

A future focused role using Excel to produce forecasts by travel month on a monthly basis. This includes a wide range of forecasts such as performance of regions, product types e.g. Hotel and Car, internal targets, direct and selling costs and supplier overrides. Reacting to changes in the external environment and building that into your analysis and forecasts.

This is a broad role where you will get insight across the whole company and your forecasting will be reported to IAGL and British Airways. You will quickly see the accuracy of your forecasting and can take learnings to continually review and amend the accuracy of your forecasting. Explaining the reasons for your forecasts to business stakeholders as well.

Coming from either a Financial or commercial analysis experience this gives you an opportunity to get exposure to the whole business and see a direct impact your work has on commercial decisions.

What you will be doing

  • Produce regular monthly forecasts using Excel and Tableau whilst utilising standard and bespoke reports across all areas of the business. Senior management and the business will use your business plans and forecasts to aid key commercial decisions.
  • Review forecasting and understand the accuracy of the reporting and explaining the difference to the business.
  • Forecast supplier overrides e.g. calculating % kickbacks from hotel chains
  • Help to produce bi-annual 3 year business plans with a Profit and Loss output.
  • Ensure data pulled from the database for your forecasting is accurate and correct.
  • Produce proactive analysis commercial data, drawing insight from both internal and external intelligence
  • Liaise with the Finance team pre and post forecast
  • Help to maintain the integrity of the forecast and budget database
  • Ad hoc business analysis and checking of assumptions

What you will bring:

  • Forecast are completed in Excel so you need to have excellent MS Excel. E.g. Vlook ups, index match, IF statements, pivot table manipulation and creation skills, VLY calculations, weighted averages, goal seek and macro knowledge
  • Aptitude to learn new systems e.g. Tableau
  • You will pull the data from a database so an ability to work with large data sets and databases
  • Proven ability to work at both a strategic and detailed level
  • Previous budgetary and forecasting experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Good written English
  • Proven experience in a financial or commercial analysis role

What we can offer you

Circa £34-36k per annum salary (this may vary depending on your relevant skills and experience)

Our offices are based in central Crawley and we offer hybrid working (within the UK only).  Generally, this role works from our offices twice a week, with additional days as needed depending on meetings etc. Office days are co-ordinated so that colleagues in the same team are in the office together to collaborate in person.  We usually support new colleagues in the office full time for the first few weeks
