You will be teaching Business Studies at a school that prides itself on preparing children for their lifelong journey ahead. The area this school serves has its own challenges, with many children from disadvantaged families and a high level of deprivation. Your students are coming to school for a safe space and have an abundance of pastoral care available to them and their families. Here, they are empowered and motivated, they feel like their voices are heard. They are even involved in the interview process of new staff, so be prepared for their questions!
Academy leaders have made vast improvements to the curriculum, and you will be clear on what you need to teach. The Business Studies curriculum aims to get every pupil to see themselves as part of the economy, being geared up to make and understand decisions that affect all. This allows them to contribute to the economy and society as employees, employers and consumers. Your pupils investigate a range of employment opportunities in order to be proactive members in the world of work.
The sharing of good practice drives improvement in teaching and learning at this academy, as does the carefully tailored approach to the professional development of every member of staff, which is highly valued by your colleagues. They are proud to be part of the academy and dedicated to what is best for students.
