The Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) network stretches across the UK. We work alongside our partners to thwart terrorist planning and help bring perpetrators to justice.
Our multi-functional Business Services team supports the operational delivery of CT policing across the wider West Midlands region through the key themes of Employee Resourcing, Facilities & Estates and Finance.
As a Business Support Officer working on our Employee Resourcing team, you'll be responsible for the direct supervision of the Business Support Assistants ensuring a comprehensive administration service is provided to Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTP WM). You'll work on your own initiative, allocate and prioritise tasks, and ensure accuracy to deliver against targets.
Based at our modern offices near to Birmingham International Airport, this role is a full time role. You'll work Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, but an element of flexibility is necessary to meet business needs.
The role
You'll oversee the Duty Management function, allocating tasks to the Business Support Assistants, ensuring quality and timeliness is achieved. You'll ensure staff with the appropriate skills can be allocated to fulfil appropriate resource requirements to police operations when planned or reactive incidents occur and ensure Logistical support arrangements are administered.
You'll provide assistance to the Coordination and Tasking Office (CATO) in times of operational demand, providing the link between operational resource requirements and obtaining specific resources (vehicles, equipment, staff etc.).
Role responsibilities
- Ensuring all abstractions are updated on to the resource management software
- Ensuring minimum staffing requirements for each Team are adhered to and regularly reviewed, highlighting any resilience issues
- Ensuring changes to planned working is reflected in the resource management database including shift changes, and re-rostered rest days.
- Reviewing shift changes, including flexible working, to ensure that policing requirements can be met
- Providing audits in relation to business areas e.g. time and attendance, sickness.
- Ensuring CTPWM Officers/staff's operational deployable skills are accurately maintained
- Highlighting issues to the Employee Resourcing Manager regarding cadre resources, numbers, skills and flexibility
- Providing logistical support out of office hours, both planned and unplanned, when normal arrangements are not in place
- To support the wider ER Team function
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post that may from time to time be determined.
Essential
- Proven experience of working within a resource planning/management environment
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience of producing management/audit reports
- Ability to use own initiative to manage own workload and prioritise tasks to achieve tight deadlines
- Possess exceptional organisational skills and ability to work under pressure with limited supervision
- Evidence of competent IT Skills including Microsoft Office
- Demonstrable communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels
- Understanding of police officer regulations and police staff terms and conditions
- Understanding of overtime and allowances
- Working knowledge of MyTime and other WMP IT systems

You must be a British citizen to work for the Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM). If you hold dual nationality, with the primary nationality British, you may also be considered.
