Business Unit Leader – Roles & Responsibilities

This key and senior level appointment will be part of the leadership level of the business and report directly to the Divisional MD.

The purpose of the role. 

  • To provide first-class Business Unit Leadership, ensuring successful, profitable and timely delivery of multiple European-wide construction projects.
  • Responsibility for Business Unit growth, profitable performance and activity against business strategy. 
  • To be responsible and accountable for all business projects, meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations. 
  • To lead on construction delivery strategy, tactics, implementation and management to achieve business delivery and projection targets.
  • To manage projects across multiple European-wide jurisdictions. Typically, 2 or 3 projects with a value of €100m.
  • Ensuring successful client relations are maintained and further developed.
  • Understand the strategy and pipeline for future projects. Manage the tender process from an operations function.
  • Ensuring that communication between head office departments and the site is utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.

Knowledge and experience

  • Candidates will be natural, high-energy leaders with drive and motivation to achieve success.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home.
  • International construction Business Unit Leadership, multi-project management leadership and client project delivery experience.
  • Proven experience of operating at a strategic and tactical level in a dynamic business environment with proven examples of achievements across all areas of construction and engineering project leadership and delivery.
  • Dynamic and successful track record in business growth.
  • Track record of achieving commercial targets.
  • Complex stakeholder management.
  • High level of technical competence to understand design and construction processes and relevant design standards, codes & legislation.
