Buyer/Office Administrator in St Albans
Job Type: Full-time, Office-based
Salary: £21,000 per annum + bonus circa £1,500
Benefits: Negotiable depending on experience. 20 Days Holiday + Bank holidays, Company Pension, On-site Parking, Bonus Scheme
Key Responsibilities – Office Administration:
- Act as the first point of contact and manage telephone communications with internal and external customers, ensuring a professional and efficient service.
- Support the daily operations of the office by accurately delivering administrative duties.
- Maintain and update standard information, including contact details for the team and contractors.
- Ensure adequate levels of kitchen and office supplies.
- Prepare monthly CIS statements for fitters.
- Manage and organise key operations every week.
Key Responsibilities – Buyer:
- Procure materials for site and office use and maintain the order book spreadsheet.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers.
- Create, monitor, and maintain various buying documents to support contract managers.
- Ensure accurate material pricing and monitor supplier pricing changes.
- Coordinate deliveries through delivery systems.
- Manage specific samples for clients.
- Handle company credit card purchases and maintain the credit card order book.
- Manage and maintain the monthly invoice filing systems.
Requirements:
- Flexibility, motivation, and a team player mentality.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain high delivery standards under pressure.
- Industry experience is desired but not essential.
- Strong time management, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with systems or a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve administrative issues.
- A proactive approach to proposing creative solutions.
- Ability to collaborate with different departments and address challenges.
- Organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- A driving licence is required due to the location with no reliable public transport links.
Education:
- GCSEs A-C or 9-5 preferred.
Experience:
- Office administration experience preferred.
