Our client works in the power sector. They repair and overhaul a lot of different type of rotating equipment- Motors, stators, generators etc and the majority must be reverse engineered as manufacturers don't just have them off the shelf to supply anymore.
So, they are looking for a CAD Draughter/Design Engineer with experience in a manufacturing setting who can produce accurate drawings for their manufacturing division to make the parts and get customers back up and running.
With the design department being shared by the group of companies and almost all the work being bespoke, no two drawings will be the same- providing a brilliantly varied, interesting and challenging role- You ll work on a variety of equipment from rotating machinery to mining rotation rail bogies, turbine blades to rail wheels
As a CAD Draughter/Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design and engineering of parts to go into equipment such as generators and motors. You will create, prepare and maintain all mechanical drawings and make improvements to existing designs. Also provide manufacturing information related to the detailed specifications of the company's products and associated equipment.
CAD Draughter/Design Engineer responsibilities:
The role of the CAD Draughter/Design Engineer is to design, engineer and produce layouts, detailed drawings and specifications of new and cost reduction products and special product builds (often from minimum data). The work will be in line with engineering practice and procedure to British Standards, with the minimum of supervision for all aspects of the product, co-ordinating information at the appropriate level for successful completion of the project.
- To investigate, action and provide feedback on change requests.
- To be able to use the CAD (Solidworks or Inventor) software efficiently
- To carry out any other task compatible with the nature of job as directed by the Chief Engineer/Office Manager
This is not an extensive list. The role will evolve to incorporate other tasks according to the business requirement.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Experienced in engineering design processes and tools is preferred.
- Conversant with CAD modelling software (Solidworks or Inventor)
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience of BOM creation and BOM structures.
- Flexible approach, willing to work extended hours and travel as and when required.
