CAD Engineer
Office/Project Location: Curzon Station Project (Birmingham)
Job Summary
Reporting to the BIM Manager this specific role is part of a high achieving team delivering industry leading innovative CAD solutions to a large multi-disciplinary project team.
The CAD Engineer is responsible for producing and managing the outputs and quality of the CAD team overseeing drawing production and allocating work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor CAD design standards and procedures
- Ensure project documentation and contracts are in compliance with the project standards
- Plan, organize and manage work plans of CAD project team
- Support the Information Manager on all aspects associated with third party data delivery and adherence to supplier BIM Execution Plans
- Provide guidance and direction to CAD team to ensure operational and technical excellence.
- Production of CAD and BIM models
- Recommend best practices for solutions
- Maintain documentation records of generated design deliverables
- Ensuring CAD processes, standards and procedures are adhered to by the supply chain and that incoming CAD data is of sufficient quality and to agreed standards to meet BIM objectives
- Responsible for raising awareness, education and training of project managers and engineers in CAD process and tools
- Providing responses to technical CAD questions, requests for information; and communicating technical information to non-technical staff
- Responsible for CAD related training
- Identify areas for improvement and feedback into the CAD standards development and operational delivery processes including promoting digital transformation in all areas where efficiency can be gained
Technical Competencies required
The key technical competencies required to perform the role well are outlined below.
- Knowledge of information management tools and especially CAD
- Experience of CAD/BIM management tools for the management and assurance of CAD information;
- Experience of CAD/BIM within an engineering or multi-disciplinary project
- Experience of managing technical information in a complex environment
- Experience of working in a high pressure, high data volume environment
- Experience of technical information production within the construction and rail sectors
- Experience of liaising directly with supply chain, client and third parties
- Knowledge of UK BIM Level 2 standards, including BS and PAS1192 series

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience required
- Recent experience of relevant construction projects
- Recognised CAD certification
- Academic qualifications of HNC/HND (or higher) ideally in a construction-based subject
