Job description

Communications Officer - Op Nova

Job Role:

The Communications Officer is responsible for communications and marketing to raise and sustain the profile of the Op NOVA, with potential and current clients and stakeholders across the justice system. As communication lead for Op NOVA, the role will also work closely with the programme funders, the NHS, and other programme partners to deliver aligned and appropriate marketing activity. The post holder will play a key role in the marketing team and be the first point of contact for the Op NOVA team.

This is a full time, 35 hours per week, Hybrid role with a salary of £28,500 with regular travel to the London office. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Marketing Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the charity’s designated contact with the NHS and subcontractors, compiling reports on marketing activity and attending quarterly review meetings.
  • Liaising online and face-to-face with police and probation services to promote Op NOVA’s services.
  • Act as the marketing team’s designated contact for the Op NOVA team and their communications and marketing requirements.
  • Creation of online and offline content, including written articles and still/motion graphics.
  • Scheduling of content on social media channels (currently Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram) using content management software.
  • Website page and post updates.
  • Support the Customer Engagement Manager with production of email newsletters and required content.
  • Virtual and in-person event support.
  • Assisting the PR consultant with interviewing clients and writing case studies.
  • Support, where required, the creation of content for our online client communities.
  • Assisting the Head of Brand and Marketing by ensuring correct use of the Forces Employment Charity’s brand guidelines both internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with Communication Managers from delivery partners where there is a need for co-branding.
  • When required, undertake other tasks in support of the Forces Employment Charity’s wider work.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Competencies:

  • Experience in creating content for on- and off-line channels.
  • Excellent internal and external relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Experience using design software, eg Canva.
  • Experience of managing creative agencies and freelancers.
  • Experience using social media scheduling software.
  • Proven ability to deliver outcomes in accordance with demanding time and quality targets and to deal with conflicting priorities calmly and appropriately.
  • Strong communicator with excellent presentation skills.

Desirable Competences:

  • Experience of working within or proven knowledge of the police and/or justice and/or health systems.
  • Empathy with and a good understanding of ex-Forces personnel and the challenges they can face.
  • Experience in creating paid social media campaigns.
  • Experience of working within a charity.
