WHO ARE WE?

PLUS is providing summer English courses for young overseas students aged between 10 and 17 years old. As one of the largest Summer School providers in the UK, we take pride in being market leaders and are fully accredited by The British Council.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF CAMPUS MANAGER?

The Campus Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of our Summer School's campus. This role requires exceptional organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills to ensure the successful execution of all programmes and activities. General responsibilities include campus setup and closure, managing information boards, operational arrangements like airport transfers, coordinating arrivals/departures, overseeing rooming, managing meal plans, communication, staff management, centre expenses, and documentation/valuables.

Centres for summer 2024: London | Epsom | Kingston | Uxbridge | Hatfield | Chelmsford | Bath | Loughborough | Ellesmere | Edinburgh | Stirling

Contract Length: 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the centre

Running Dates: Our camps run between mid-June and mid-August, Start and End dates vary from centre to centre. Campus and Activity Managers are expected to arrive to the campus 5 days prior the students:

  • Chelmsford - From 01/07 to 11/08
  • Edinburgh – From 02/07 to 31/07
  • Ellesmere – From 05/07 to 14/08
  • London Central – From 01/07 to 11/08
  • London Epsom – From 02/07 to 14/08
  • London Kingston – From 03/07 to 14/08
  • London Uxbridge – From 18/06 to 14/08
  • Hatfield - From 01/07 to 31/07
  • Loughborough – From 14/07 – 10/08
  • Stirling – From 01/07 to 31/07

Working hours: 48 hours per week across 6 days. Due to the nature of the work, you will be asked to sign the opt-out of the 48 hour week form. You may expected more workload at the beginning of the camp, and less by the end of it.

Accommodation: Full board accommodation is fully provided by PLUS – this role is residential, therefore you must stay on the campus for the duration of your employment

YOU MUST:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Be available to attend our in-person Induction training on 1st and 2nd June (paid)
  • Be willing to undergo the Enhanced DBS Check or Police Criminal Record Check if you are coming from abroad
  • Provide 2 referees
  • Proficient in software applications, particularly Microsoft Excel for planning and coordination purposes
  • Comfortable with using our own in-house software for effective camp management
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

  • Strong analytical skills to digest extensive information and prepare comprehensive overviews for effective camp coordination.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in the management of documentation, expenses, and records.
  • A commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of participants and staff.
  • Previous experience in effectively managing and coordinating staff.
  • Familiarity with the logistical aspects of summer camp operations, including accommodation, transportation, and more.

Job Type: Fixed term temporary contract

Salary: from £750 per week, depending on the centre and experience

Holiday: Due to the nature of the work, you are not allowed to take holiday. The salary is already inclusive of the holiday pay.

SAFEGUARDING AND ELIGIBILITY CHECKS:

All current holders of roles involving responsibility for or substantial access to under 18s, and all new appointees to such roles, will have appropriate suitability checks, for example with the Disclosure and Barring Service (in England and Wales) or Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (in Scotland), in line with the organisation’s stringent safeguarding policy.

All gaps in employment will need to be explained, and a minimum of two references are required. These can be academic as well as professional. All references will be contacted and specifically asked whether there is any reason that the applicant should not be working with anyone under the age of 18.

Please note that due to post-Brexit restrictions, you must be a UK resident or have UK residency to work in our UK Camps.
