Job Description

What does the role entail?


    This is an exciting opportunity as this roles spends half of its time with the Capital Planning area (during their ICAAP process, so approx. Jan – July) and the remaining time with the Regulatory Reporting team. 

What do the different teams do?


A.    The Capital Planning area within the regulatory capital team is responsible for enhancing best practice in managing capital across the UK consolidation Group.


What will you do in the role?


1.    Internal Capital Management:
-    Preparing 1-year capital plan, including RWA forecast and financial resources forecast
-    Support/Prepare the 3-year capital plan where required, including preparing the RWA forecast.
-    Prepare/oversee aggregation of internal capital for the desk per internal methodology
-    Preparing the computation of RoC/RoE metrics 
-    Prepare materials for relevant governance committees
-    Production and analysis of relevant Capital Management MI
-    Review of current internal capital attribution framework and propose relevant enhancements


2.    ICAAP process
-    Support the annual ICAAP process
-    Deliver material parts of the calculation, including concentration risk
-    Support the continuous review and development of internal capital management frameworks and Pillar 2 models


3.    Ensuring all data calculation processes in respect of capital management are in place and all processes and methodologies are continuously reviewed, enhanced adequately documented


4.    You must be able to balance the theoretical view with a business view and be able to analyse quantitative output and make the appropriate business suggestion


5.    The role is expected to manage all of the points above with respect to the consolidated UK Group and the stand alone bank in the UK and help out if required in other jurisdictions. This person in this role will need to work closely with the policy and pillar 1 production teams.

 

 


B.    The Regulatory Reporting team is part of the Prudential Advisory and Reporting team and is responsible for the calculation of market risk, credit risk and operational risk capital. In addition it is responsible for the Large exposure and leverage ratio calculation and reporting thereof. The candidate would be expected to support the team with:


1.    Owning part of the monthend process such as reconciliations, Leverage ratio, Credit risk RWAs, Market risk RWAs, SA-CCR RWAs, Financial Resources and associated COREP returns
2.    Performing impact analysis for any rule changes such as B3.1
3.    Creating and updating monthly desk reporting
4.    Maintaining procedures
5.    Improving and automating processes    

 

What technical knowledge do you need to have?


•    Advanced excel knowledge, ability to deal with complex data sets
•    Strong analytical and methodical problem solving, especially in quantitative areas, drive to understand full detail where relevant
•    Any regulatory capital knowledge preferred 
•    Good banking book product knowledge

What personal attributes are we looking for?


•    Excellent written, communication & presentation skills
•    Ability to work across multiple differing tasks and ability to manage own workflows
•    Stakeholder communication, management and ability to meet tight deadlines
•    Team player and ability to manage smaller projects independently

What other attributes that would be interesting for you to have?

 •    Experience in a banking/financial services environment
•    Ideally qualified accountant 
•    Experience in Pillar 1 Regulatory Reporting, capital management or risk environment a plus
•    Experience in Pillar 2a concepts, risk assessment, stress testing and reverse stress testing a plus
•    Ability to identify problems independently and undertake and execute remediation actions
