Capital Projects Manager

As a Capital Projects Manager, it is a key role for our organistaion that we are supporting. You will work alongside the Associate Director of Capital Development in the provision of a professional Estates design, technical advice and engineering/construction management service. This includes the direct management and supervision of Capital schemes for all building and engineering matters. All schemes are implemented to agreed costs, timescales and the required quality standards in order to provide a modern, efficient and sustainable Estates portfolio which is compliant with all Estates and Facilities related Regulations and to enable the ongoing and effective delivery of patient care.
The Capital Projects Manager will directly manage the provision of Building Improvement schemes through construction and engineering contractors and external specialist consultants and surveyors, to meet the requirements of the Trust Estates and Service strategies and the associated Capital and major revenue projects. The Capital Projects Manager is also responsible for the design, detailed specification, procurement, planning, implementation and project management, and contract administration of all Capital and major revenue projects, in addition to any compliance and associated remedial works arising from in house and specialist audits.
About the role
- Assist the Associate Director of Capital Development in the development of the Trust's Capital Program and manage a number of specific projects in order to implement the program to improve the environment for patients and staff
- Commission and Project Manage Capital projects including major revenue projects, including work on business case development
- Provide technical representation at a number of Project Meetings linked to capital schemes and other schemes within the program. Provide the technical input into the Project Group meetings
- Provide expert specialist and professional construction and Facilities Projects advice in relation to the projects undertaken and more generally throughout the Trust on behalf of the Associate Director of Capital Development
- Work with the Associate Director of Capital Development to develop and implement Capital Policies and Procedures for the department
- Maintain an in-depth and up to date knowledge of sustainable and health-care related design issues in construction
About you
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in building construction of Engineering services
- IOSH Healthcare (Risk and Safety Management) or NEBOSH general certificate (Construction)
- PRINCE 2: Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification
- In-depth experience in design, specification and negotiation of construction projects, Capital project management and administration of construction contract matters
- In-depth knowledge of project management, including procurement routes and business case development
- Experience in facilitating formal tendering processes
- Local authority, planning and building control guidelines - in order to process accurate and timely planning applications and building control approval applications in support of relevant Capital schemes
- Ability to work across site
- Highly literate and skilled at report writing
- Strategic thinking - ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise
