Salary: £25,509.12
Hours: 8pm -8am on a rolling rota of 3 shift on 3 shifts off

Job Purpose
To provide support during the night and assist residents upon retiring and rising according to individual needs. To promote the safety and security of the residents and of the establishment throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- To participate in the delivery of care to the residents ensuring that their physical, social, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional needs are met and promoted including end of life care.
- Ensure that safeguarding procedures are properly followed and recorded.
- To have a caring nature and possess values to demonstrate the key behaviours of the company.
- Check security of building, closing, and securing windows, doors, and alarms. Check building is safe, ensuring adequate and appropriate lighting. Check fire exits are clear, and empty waste bins.
- To ensure all equipment is sufficiently charged and use all equipment according to instructions and store safely when not in use.
- Adhere to the Company’s dress code incorporating the wearing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Main Duties
- To deliver person centred care as per the individual support plan.
- Answer call bells promptly.
- Assisting residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, general hygiene, and all night-time care needs.
- Comfort and support residents who find it difficult to settle. Encourage them to rest in bedroom or lounge according to their preference. Offer drinks and snacks.
- Record two hourly checks on the well-being of all residents, using the QR codes, unless otherwise indicated by a risk assessment.
- Summon emergency services - i.e., fire, ambulance, police when required.
- Summon appropriate medical service i.e., G.P or out of hours. If you become concerned about a resident’s condition or if a poorly resident’s condition seems to be deteriorating, you should also contact on call management.
- In the time available between attending to residents undertake domestic and laundry duties e.g. preparing for breakfast, table laying, dusting, and hoovering as per the cleaning schedule and record tasks undertaken.
- To promote a safe and caring environment maintaining general tidiness and promoting a homely atmosphere.
- Meet and greet visitors and health care professionals to the home, establishing identity in accordance with the homes security system and ensuring that visitors sign into and out of the home.
- Record all care given and document any changes or concerns on the electronic care planning system; ensuring these are reported to the senior in charge.
- Complete ‘Handover Sheets’ and sign off any assigned tasks.
- Work collectively as a team and continuously promote and aim to improve care standards in accordance with the companies’ values. Ensuring you are approachable and supportive towards colleagues and home management.
- To maintain confidentiality and always respect the requirements of the residents.
- To be aware of complying with Health and safety practices and ensuring correct and diligent use of PPE and infection control procedures are followed.
- To adhere to Borough Cares Moving and Handling policy and procedures relating to residents and staff.
- Any other duties required in accordance with the role, home requirements and service delivery.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge
- Must be prepared to attend such training sessions as are deemed necessary by the Company and profession.
- It is expected that you complete all mandatory e-learning modules in a timely manner.
- Be flexible and attend mandatory daytime training sessions.
Experience / Skills
- Must have demonstrated the ability to work both as a team member and on own initiative.
- To be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of literacy and numeracy skills.
- Able to organize and complete routine tasks to set standards.
- Awareness of the need to respect resident’s privacy and individuality.
- Ensuring the appropriate use of PPE
