Careers Adviser

Fixed term (for a period of 9 months) Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. The Careers Service supports and inspires our students and graduates to realise their career goals by supporting the development of their career management skills, preparing them for the world of work. The Careers Service offers a range of employability related activities including work placement and skills-based careers programmes such as the Principal’s Award, Mentoring Scheme, Graduate Award Plus and Graduate Success. The University now seeks to appoint a qualified Careers Adviser to work 35 hours per week for a fixed term of 9 months. (We are open to part-time, and job share arrangements)   Reporting to the Careers Service Manager, you will deliver a bespoke employability support service for Abertay Graduates.  You will enhance the employability skills of Abertay Graduates and ensure they have the knowledge and understanding needed to be successful in the graduate labour market for their chosen career.  You will provide expertise through appointments, online tailored practical sessions, bootcamps, targeted support, and a range of bespoke interactive resources. The role requires an excellent communicator with the ability to motivate and build rapport with a range of people.  An organised and flexible approach will be required to manage a busy caseload, with an ability to work on own initiative as well as being a team player.  To support our students and graduates, it will be important to have an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to your work.
