Job Title: Project Coach - Steps to Success

Salary: £25,372 – £28,576 per annum

Role Overview:
• To deliver a tested model across secondary schools in East Sussex, supporting young people in year 10 to achieve successful pathways post year 11.
• To undertake regular careers-based interventions with young people, supporting them alongside a bespoke work experience placement organised and overseen by East Sussex County Council’s (ESCC) Work Experience (WEX) team.
• Working closely and effectively with a range of stakeholders to improve young people’s opportunities when they leave school
Key Responsibilities:
• To work with a caseload of young people providing up to date and regular 1:1 holistic quality Information, Advice and Guidance.
• Develop agreed action plans and goals with young people that are regularly reviewed.
• Work closely with local schools to ensure that young people are available to be seen face to face, they are supported to access the project and appropriate referrals are made.
• Use community venues and other spaces to see young people when school is not possible, planning your diary to best effect to see young people on your caseload.
• Liaise with parents to support them to support their young people.
• Ensure accurate client record keeping as required, as well as completing evaluations, impact surveys and case studies as required.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of local labour market information, progression opportunities and resources to aid young people’s progression post 16, sharing with others as appropriate.
• Collaborate with colleagues from ESCC to ensure young people identify and participate in relevant and rewarding work experience and all project information is collected.
Essential/Desirable Skills:
A commitment to undertake all necessary training for the role (E)
Demonstrable experience of working with young people on a caseload and supporting them to achieve positive outcomes. (E)
Experience of working within a youth employability setting (D)
Experience of managing risk and safeguarding situations within a young people’s service (E)
A good understanding of the issues and barriers impacting young people’s progression into education, employment, and training (E)
Full driving licence and use of a vehicle for regular travel (E)
