Aims of Job/Job Purpose
Provide careers information, advice and guidance to potential students, students, and staff. Ensure that individuals achieve their full potential by conducting one-to-one interviews and group sessions on all aspects of careers work.
To support the day-to-day running of Student Services. This includes providing a front line service to support students who are in need of general advice, guidance and support on a wide range of issues.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Provide appropriate one-to-one careers guidance to students for employment, education and training.
2. To provide initial information and advice on all support services, to include the admissions process, welfare advice, and additional support.
3. Prepare and deliver group work to students on topics including employability/job search skills, progression routes and higher education.
4. To contribute to the development and delivery of careers education in the college.
5. To promote Careers and other Student Services events to support the College in responding to the needs of students.
6. Ensure that careers resources are comprehensive and kept fully up to date in line with IAG standards.
7. Participate in IAG Network activities.
8. Contribute to developing and maintaining links with external agencies.
9. Develop personal knowledge of education, employment and training opportunities available to clients, particularly within South and City College Birmingham.
10. Ensure the maintenance of appropriate records and make full use of appropriate computerised systems in relation to the above duties.
11. Assist in marketing events and exhibitions.
12. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of interactions with individual students on a confidential database.
13. To provide regular statistics and contribute to regular reports on the service.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
a) Comply with internal and external quality standards and contribute to the College’s strategic aims.
b) Comply with college policies and procedures and health and safety regulations.
c) Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare.
d) Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation.
e) Participate in the College’s Appraisal scheme and undertake any training as required.
f) Support and actively participate in the implementation of the College’s Equal Opportunity policies.
g) Keep abreast the local and national labour market
h) To understand the educational offers the college provides (apprenticeships & T-Levels)

Salary: £26,149.00-£28,747.00 per year
