UCL’s Strategic Plan (2022-2027) includes a vision for an ambitious and distinctive ‘futures focused’ education for our students. It prompts us to look at how the future can be influenced and shaped by UCL students, staff and graduates through our teaching and research. One of the aims of the Strategic Plan is to bring together teaching, assessment and employability in order to support student futures and to that end, the new ‘Higher Education Development & Support’ (HEDS) Institute is being established. HEDS brings together UCL Arena (UCL’s Centre for Research-based Education) and UCL Careers Service, sitting within the Office of the Vice Provost (Education & Student Experience). This role is part of the UCL Careers team - a department of approximately 70 staff which provides a wide variety of careers resources, one-to-one guidance services and a comprehensive events programme for current UCL students, research staff and recent UCL graduates and aims to support our users at all stages of their career journey during and after their time at UCL. We also provide a wide range of recruitment solutions for employers or other organisations targeting UCL. About the role The main purpose of the role is to provide first line response and enquiries support for all UCL Careers users, (primarily through UCL’s online enquiry and case management system but also via email, phone and in-person enquiries), resolving queries / signposting where possible or, referring enquiries on and tracking them until resolved as appropriate but, the postholder will also work alongside the Careers Information Team and the wider UCL Careers Team to administer day-to-day use of booking systems and carry out a range of administrative tasks to provide support for the whole team where needed. About you We are therefore looking for someone with clear motivation for working in higher education and supporting students and graduates with future career plans. You will have relevant work experience in a client-focused environment with an understanding and appreciation of the importance of good customer service and efficient enquiry management plus, experience of administration work in a busy office environment. Experience of working in or using an HE Careers Service is desirable but not essential.
