Applications close: 21st June 2024

Possible Locations:
East of England, West Midlands, East Midlands, North of England and Scotland.

Overview:
Handelsbanken’s Returners Programme is a nine month paid return to work opportunity to support individuals looking to re-invest in their career, who have an aspiration to develop into a leadership role and have been out of the workplace for 18 months or more.

Through this programme, Handelsbanken hopes to create opportunities for  individuals to re-enter the workplace within the branch network, to utilise their current skillset, develop new skills, and grow within a truly inclusive team environment.

The programme will commence on 14th October 2024

What does the programme offer?

The roles available as part of the Returners Programme will be for non-certified Corporate Banking Managers or Private Banking Managers, in a selection of branches across the above locations. The successful candidates will be responsible for the maintenance and development of a small corporate or private banking customer portfolio within a retail banking environment. You will have responsibility for all aspects of the client relationships, including building relationships with existing, new and prospective customers.

In addition to the work associated with your role, Handelsbanken will provide a full package of support including coaching, mentoring, leadership development, training to enhance technical skills, networking opportunities and general guidance to help support with re-entering the workplace.

There may also be the potential for a permanent offer of employment after successfully completing the nine month programme and the opportunity to develop your career into a leadership position.

We are open to discussing the possibility of flexible or hybrid working.

Who is the programme aimed at?

This programme is open to anyone who is seeking to return to work after taking a career break, and wishes to reignite and refresh their financial services / banking sector experience in a structured and supportive environment.

  • Length of career break: minimum 18 months (this could mean you have not participated in any paid work, or you have chosen to work on a small-scale or self-employed basis to fit around other commitments)
  • Previous experience in the retail banking sector
  • You may have previous experience within a leadership, coaching or mentoring capacity or have aspirations to develop in this area.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels
  • Held direct responsibility for the growth and relationship management of a portfolio of customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of integrity.
