Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship Lecturer and Skills Coach. Full Time. 37 hours per week. Permanent. Salary £32,213 -£36,458 (including £2.5k market supplement)

This role is a combined role of a 0.5 Skills Coach and a 0.5 Lecturer in Carpentry and Joinery. You will have 10 hours contact time each week with apprentices in class teaching, with the rest of the week made up of teaching preparation/marking and carrying our progress reviews every 10-12 weeks for a cohort of around 25 apprentices. Your role will be to ensure that our apprentices develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for them to be competent in their job role and prepare them for the next steps in their career.

You will deliver a variety of topics across the Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship Standards, and you will be an integral part of the team responsible for supporting apprentices through their portfolio, personal development, and any other requirements involved in preparation for the apprentice’s end point assessment.

Knowledge of the Apprenticeship Standards, E – portfolio system (Smart Assessor) and experience of working with apprentices would be beneficial along with excellent communication skills and a 'can do' approach to tasks. However, we will provide all the required training for those looking for a career change from Carpentry and Joinery related roles to education.

  • You must hold or be prepared to work towards a full teaching qualification at Level 5.
  • You must hold or be prepared to work towards an Assessors award e.g. A1/TAQA or equivalent.
  • You must hold at least a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject.
  • A minimum of Level 2 qualifications in numeracy and literacy.
  • You must have relevant experience within industry.
