An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Case Preparation Officer with the Traffic Enforcement Team within the Traffic Process Unit. Whilst a good prior working knowledge of the Traffic enforcement arena is desirable, full training will be provided to all successful candidates.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure that traffic prosecution case files relating to both camera offences and Officer issued Traffic Offence Reports (TORS) are prepared to a high standard. Consequently, you will be required to liaise with the Camera Operators, Police Officers, CPS, Courts, Regional Fixed Penalty Office & Enquiry Officers in addition to assessing all previous evidence and correspondence, to determine and decide the offences for which a prosecution may be appropriate. It will be your responsibility to provide an electronic statement of evidence, acting as Disclosure Officer, and ultimately attending court to give evidence where necessary.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, capable of planning and prioritising their work and with sound evidence of being a team player. You must be able to demonstrate your attention to detail and the ability to apply procedures correctly. Ideally you will possess a good prior working knowledge of Road Traffic Law, particularly as the role encompasses a wide range of traffic and speeding offences which are often deceptively complicated, along with a good understanding of how the prosecution process operates, though full training will be provided. Successful candidates will need to ensure the Threshold Test, Full Test and Public Interest Test are applied to all cases, so any previous working knowledge of these will be advantageous. You will have good keyboard skills and ideally have experience of Athena, PNC, Pentip and StarDome, though full training will be available. As you will at times be required to attend court to give evidence, excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Kent Police offer smarter working which designates that certain roles can have flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a designated ‘Team Zone’ location on average one or two days a week, as agreed with the line manager. Currently the designated Team Zone for this role is located at FHQ, Maidstone and will be moving to , Ashford Police station.
Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £29,073.00.
