Due to our ongoing commitment to support the career and professional development of our social workers, we have a new Assistant Team Manager role now available to recruit to permanently.

Our Council has invested further in children’s social care. We have recruited additional permanent social workers in each of our four CASTs (Child Assessment and Safeguarding Teams, which have combined our referral and assessment and child in need teams). We have recruited a senior social worker in each CAST, as well as two Family Practitioners per CAST, bringing in even more capacity. Our Resilience Around the Families Team is a dedicated resource with adult mental health professional, adult substance misuse professionals, child mental health specialists, and a team of trained volunteers. Our Family Hub offer is nationally recognised as good practice, providing access to a range of targeted early intervention and early help support services including parenting and domestic abuse interventions.

A relocation grant of up to £8k is available if you are moving to the Isle of Wight. You will have 32 days annual leave a year to enjoy all what the Isle of Wight has to offer. In a recent poll with social workers across the Southeast, work life balance was their top priority when deciding on a job. We will invest in you and your career by providing you with five extra days for you to take to focus on your professional development with our support. We operate a nine-day fortnight which means you get an additional two days a month as time off in lieu.

We have a positive, supportive culture and working environment. Even our agency workers do not want to leave and if they do, they ask to come back. We work to a strengths-based, multi-disciplinary approach focussed on building resilience in individuals, families, and communities, whilst managing risk and safeguarding children.

Ofsted have rated us as an overall GOOD children's social care following our last inspection published in December 2023.

As the Assistant Team Manager, you will support your Team Manager and team members to achieve the best for children. Our Assistant Team Manager roles are the next step in our career pathway for social workers with an interest in progressing into senior management roles

You will be contacted for an interview if you are successful with your application.

For further information or an informal discussion, please contact our Service Manager for Operations Lauren Wicks on [email protected] or by calling 01983 821000.
